Description

Microscopic fluid dynamics at surfaces lead to irreversible protein aggregation; this is a concern for biomanufacturing. Controlling temperature, interface chemistry and shear rate will help decouple the interplay between thermodynamics, interfacial adsorption, and hydrodynamic deformation and transport during the kinetics of protein aggregation. In-situ measurements of adsorption (structure and amount) and particle characterization will determine formation mechanisms.
