Reasoning and Explanation in a Computational Cognitive Architecture
Naval Research Laboratory, DC, Information Technology
This multidisciplinary research opportunity focuses on (1) cognitive modeling of high-level human reasoning and (2) mental representation of events and the structure of episodic memory. Our group uses a combination of systems-level artificial intelligence and cognitive modeling techniques. Applicants should have experience programming in either Java or a functional programming language like LISP or Clojure. Preferred skills include familiarity with formal logic and experience with causal modeling. Willingness to engage with and synthesize across disparate literature in neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, and AI is a must, as is the ability to present ideas clearly in papers and presentations.
