Description

Research focuses on the experimental measurement and interpretation, analytical model development, and computational prediction of turbulent, multi-phase reacting flows in combustion environments. Research spans basic to system-level applications. Several experimental techniques are employed and are developed, including particle image velocimetry, laser Doppler anemometry, various absorption and scattering spectroscopy, and other laser-based measurement methods. Available resources include high-speed visible and IR imaging and spectroscopy, canonical gas and spray burners, and data acquisition systems. Various dynamical methods are used to analyze time-resolved measurements and validate analytical and numerical models. Analytical development is used to determine modal behavior from various phenomena. Computational models are developed and validated against experimental data and predict unmeasured or unobserved phenomena and/or quantities.
