Fatigue and Cognitive Performance
Naval Postgraduate School, Engineering, Applied Sciences and Computer Science
Fatigue is an increasingly important issue for warfighters in today's demanding military and defense climate. The effect of fatigue and sleep debt on individual performance has been scrutinized closely, resulting in models that are capable of predicting performance decrements in simple tasks such as vigilance and reaction time. Less well understood is how fatigue affects complex cognitive processes such as decision making, judgment, and team performance. The purpose of this program is to further explore these challenging areas in the context of operational settings.
