Development of magnetism-based future electronics is fueled by demand for large memory capacity and high data processing rates. New technologies such as hard drives with bit-patterned media and magnetic memory chips, and also virtually any future magnetism-based electronics will require large, very uniform arrays of magnetic nanostructures that may use novel spin transport phenomena to manipulate and detect the magnetization state.
We combine microwave spectroscopy, low-frequency magnetometry, and micromagnetic modeling with the capabilities of the CNST’s NanoFab to foster the development of magnetic nanotechnology. Recent and current projects include ferromagnetic resonance force microscopy, stroboscopic ferromagnetic resonance detection and nanomagnet measurements using diamond NV centers.
