Neutron Scattering Studies of Quantum Magnetism
NIST Center for Neutron Research
Please note: This Agency only participates in the February and August reviews.
We use neutron scattering techniques to study magnetic properties of strongly fluctuating spin systems that order at greatly reduced temperatures or completely fail to develop static order despite strong interactions. The systems of interest include geometrically frustrated magnets, magnetic molecules, doped antiferromagnets, topological magnets, and heavy fermion systems. Phase transitions; spin dynamics; and correlations between spin, charge, and lattice degrees of freedom in novel materials are studied by elastic and inelastic neutron scattering techniques.
