Description

This research involves modeling the solar-terrestrial environment, with an emphasis on the quantitative prediction of space weather disturbances that impact human activities on Earth and in space. Areas of research include solar energetic particles, coronal mass ejections, background solar wind, energy storage and release in the magnetotail, ring current, radiation belts, ionospheric currents, and large- and small-scale ionospheric disturbances. The research can focus on a broad range of activities, including model development, model validation, and the application of model output to the needs of space weather forecasters and users of space weather services.
