Multi-spectral Satellite Developments for Mesoscale Applications
National Environmental Satellite, Data & Information Service, STAR Regional & Mesoscale Meteorology Branch (RAMMB) - CIRA
This research opportunity applies multispectral satellite measurements to various mesoscale phenomena. Measurements include mainly those in the visible and infrared regions of the spectrum. While measurements are made throughout the atmosphere, the main focus is on lower tropospheric and surface features. Phenomena to be studied consist of small-scale weather events below the resolution of most conventional surface and upper-air measurement networks, where the variability of atmospheric and surface features is largely unmeasured but can change drastically in both time and space.
Experience Supplement: Postdoctoral and Senior Associates will receive an appropriately higher stipend based on the number of years of experience past their PhD.
