This research will concentrate on studying the structure and function of biologically active polypeptides and neuroactive materials. The primary emphasis will be placed on crystallization and structural studies of natural and synthetic polypeptides. Modern laboratory facilities include three x-ray diffractometers (including one powder diffractometer,) two of which are equipped with computer controlled low-temperature systems. Nonstandard methods will provide ample opportunity for innovative research and for participating in structure solution analysis and molecular modeling studies. Collaborators within the department provide expertise and facilities for genetic engineering and protein expression.
