Numerical Methods in Chemical Spectroscopy and Materials Characterization
Material Measurement Laboratory, Biomolecular Measurement Division
NIST only participates in the February and August reviews.
This program seeks to improve spectroscopic measurements in chemistry and materials science through the application of computational methods. Current projects include stochastic calculus applied to spectrum analysis including denoising and feature extraction, nonlinear programming applied to optimization of instrument performance, and computational statistics applied to spectral similarity and library searching. Measurements techniques include, but are not limited to, mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, and vibrational spectroscopy. The successful applicant will be expected to interact closely with experimentalists and be able to work with large data sets.
