Description

The processing, separation, and characterization of single-wall carbon nanotubes in organic solution environments is developing as an important pathway to commercialization for these nanomaterials. Utilizing various conjugated polymers nanotubes can be selectively solubilized into organic phases in controllable manners, as well as separated using various handles, including all organic variations of two-phase extraction. Extending the control and targeting capability of these separations will enable easier and more desirable direct processing of nanotube materials for applications such as printable electronics and photovoltaics. Characterizing the role of the specific dispersant polymers and the effect of organic solution composition and characteristics are of key interest to this opportunity.
