Additional Information About Naval Research Laboratory (NRL)
NRL Research Associateship Awards are made for one year. Awards may be renewed for a second and third year, upon mutual agreement of the Laboratory Program Representative, Research Adviser and Associate, pending the availability of funds. Renewals are generally for 12 months, but in special cases can be granted for less than 12 months but at least 6 months. In some cases an extension may be requested to bring research to a logical conclusion of up to 3 months.
Dual Citizenship:If offered an award, those who hold another citizenship in addition to that of the United States must provide the following to NRL's Personnel Security Office before beginning tenure:
- A statement expressing their willingness to renounce their non-US citizenship
- Acknowledgment of the willingness to surrender or relinquish their foreign passport if needed or required
