The ARL SMall Engine Altitude Research Facility (SMEARF) is used to investigate the effects of altitudes on small UAV engine combustion and performance. Detailed engine combustion and performance analysis shall be performed for various small UAV engines at various altitude conditions. The candidate shall have a profound understanding of engine combustion processes and analytical skills to perform engine performance and heat release analysis. The candidate shall use the ARL engine performance and combustion analysis tools and have an opportunity to improve the existing tools. The candidate shall also support to operate the unique altitude facility for small engines.
