Research opportunities are available to study acoustic, seismic, and electro-optic propagation and/or imaging in complex battlefield environments. We are particularly interested in (1) the effects of atmospheric turbulence on signal variability, detection, and beamforming, using both theoretical and experimental approaches; (2) methods to mitigate these effects; (3) modeling of wave propagation and scattering in urban terrain, atmospheric turbulence, vegetation, and other complex environments; (4) nocturnal propagation modeling and data analysis; (5) environmental remote sensing, to include acoustic tomography and electro-optic sensing; (6) high-performance computational modeling; (7) advanced processing techniques for tracking sources in realistic environments; and (8) the development of image processing algorithms from a multidisciplinary approach, to include multiple sensor modalities and the consideration of human visual processing. Computational facilities, ranging from high-performance computers to desktop PCs, and experimental sites are available.
