This research involves the development of multidisciplinary computational approaches on high-performance computers to address challenges in simulating practical Army applications. The topics include (1) computational methods for interdisciplinary applications (e.g., structure-medium interaction and Eulerian-Lagrangian), (2) multiscale computational approaches (e.g., macro-meso-micro approaches and approaches based on wavelets), (3) scalable equation solvers for a wide class of nonlinear problems, (4) scalable methodologies for computational mechanics including penetration and fragmentation, (5) scalable grid generation and image based numerical techniques, (6) sata mining for scientific applications, (7) visualization of large data sets, and (8) innovative approaches for validation of large-scale scientific applications.
