A postdoctoral position in the Photonics Research Center at the United States Military Academy is available. The Photonics Research Center is a collaborative research center involving the Departments of Chemistry and Life Sciences, Physics and Nuclear Engineering, and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Our current research projects include UV Raman spectroscopy for detection of energetic materials on surfaces, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy for detection of inorganic and nuclear materials, and ultra-short pulse laser-based spectroscopy. Our current focus for a postdoctoral candidate is in the optical spectroscopy project areas, specifically UV Raman spectroscopy and/or laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy. The selected candidate will be required to teach undergraduate mathematics for one semester each academic year.

A PhD in Chemistry or Physics or related field with lab or industry experience in optical spectroscopy is preferred.
