Description
Our group conducts basic and applied research in the infectious disease diagnostics field, and we are looking for individuals to focus on biomarkers of infection (ex. host/pathogen transcriptomics and proteomics) and molecular biology for novel diagnostic platform development. We focus on assay development, characterization, and fielding of a variety of assays including real-time PCR, next-generation sequencing, and proteomics. Specific focus areas include 1) viral/bacterial detection and quantification, 2) point of care diagnostics, 3) infectious disease biomarker identification, 4) antimicrobial resistance/susceptibility testing, and 5) clinical sample testing and overseas biosurveillance. These efforts require access to BSL-2/3/4 containment laboratories, use of high-risk pathogens, and overseas fieldwork.
