Description

The Entomology Department at the US Army Medical Research Unit-Kenya in Kisumu, Kenya conducts studies on the biology and control of insect vectors of disease. Emphasis is placed on laboratory and field studies to understand transmission dynamics of arthropod-borne diseases for the development of effective vector control measures. Current research focuses on malaria, dengue and leishmaniasis vector biology and control. Our efforts are targeted at the development of novel control methods to minimize vector-human contact and to reduce infectious vector incidence in the field, thus reducing the threat of arthropod-borne pathogens.
