This position involves combining spectroscopic methods (FTIR and Raman) with electrochemical methods to study electrode kinetics and mechanisms for electrochemical reactions involved in energy conversion devices, such as fuel cells, alternative fuel generation, and energy storage. Bond vibration spectrum offers identification of the reaction intermediates attached on the electrode surface and in the vicinity solution. A wide range of knowledge and skills in the interdisciplinary fields covering electrochemistry, nano-sized electrocatalyst, and characterization techniques will be required for a successful candidate.
