Description

We have on-going opportunities to perform high-fidelity numerical modeling across scales of motion from sub-millimeter to kilometer to develop parameterizations of subgrid processes in Navy operational models (typically Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations). Current topics of interest include shoaling internal solitary waves, Discrete Element Method Simulations for sediment transport and granular physics, and Large-eddy Simulations of stratified and unstratified bottom boundary layer turbulence. Numerical modelers have access to state-of-the-art Department of Defense High Performance Computing resources and work in a team environment involving close collaboration with laboratory and field experimentalists. Priority will be given to applicants with experience in High Performance Computing and strong interest in developing advanced numerical approaches for multi-scale modeling applications to marine geosciences.
