The mechanical properties of heterogeneous and anisotropic biomaterials (e.g., tissue scaffolds and devices) are complex and must be determined at a length scale comparable to the size of a cell. The objective of this study is to develop validated measurements for quantifying the mechanical properties of biomaterials as well as image-based numerical models for predicting these properties.
