Description

This research builds on our understanding of the environments in which severe convective storms form to estimate the distribution of storms around the world and in climate change scenarios. Three emphases frame the research. First is the need for basic improvement in the relationships between weather events and their environments. Second, research is ongoing, using reanalysis data to apply those relationships to the global distribution of severe thunderstorms over the period of observational record. Finally, output from global climate models is used to examine the ability of the models to reproduce the important observed quantities and how those quantities might change in various climate scenarios in the future.

$24,000 Supplement for Doctorates in Electrical Engineering

Experience Supplement:
Postdoctoral and Senior Associates will receive an appropriately higher stipend based on the number of years of experience past their PhD.
