Description
Stock assessments are an interdisciplinary product. One must have expertise in population dynamics, statistics, resource management, computer programming, and economics in order to be a successful stock assessment scientist. Research in any of these fields as they relate to fisheries provides a strong footing for the pursuit of a job in fishery science. Our group would provide the opportunity to collaborate with hands-on stock assessment scientist from a variety of fields (e.g. applied math, ecology, biology and environmental studies). We are especially interested in simulation studies that will test assumptions both in our modeling and in the management that results from assessments.
