Description

The Associate will serve as a liaison between SEFSC stock-assessment scientists and the IEA (Integrated Ecosystem Assessment) community to incorporate the growing body of ecological products (model predictions, environmental indices, trophic dynamic considerations) into next generation stock assessments. The applicant will be expected to have an understanding of both stock assessment and ecological modeling and be comfortable contributing to teams working on both with a goal of providing ecosystem product support for Southeast Region stock assessments. Specific tasks will include developing custom Ecopath/Ecosim models to address specific assessment questions, bringing ecological products into SEDAR stock assessments, and assisting assessment analysts in the incorporation of ecological products into stock assessment models. The position is ideal for an applicant with strong quantitative skills and an interest in cross-disciplinary work between stock assessments and IEAs.
