Description

Opportunities exist in basic and applied research to study nanostructured architectures, which possess unique surface and structural properties to enhance adsorption, reaction, spectral, and energy conversion processes. This work focuses on an in-depth and systematic understanding of the interfacial properties of discrete structures, which serve as a bridge to designing complex multifunctional arrays. A first principles approach to understanding the properties and dynamics of primitive materials is supported by modeling and experiment as a means to characterize the trends and sensitivities that are due to subtle changes in morphology and surface group inclusion.
